Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the US 82 westbound exit ramp at US 75 (Exit 642A) in Sherman, Texas, will permanently close at 7 a.m. May 31. This exit ramp allows travelers to access US 75 from westbound US 82.

The closure is permanent and is needed to complete the construction of the US 82 westbound frontage road and align the ramps to their final configuration.

Travelers can access US 75 from westbound US 82 using the Loy Lake Road exit (Exit 642B) and following the westbound frontage road. Message boards will be placed along the roadway before the Loy Lake Road exit to alert drivers to the new traffic pattern, officials said.

With this phase of construction underway on US 75 travelers are advised to watch for road crews on the highway, expect some delays and plan their commutes in advance. This construction and any necessary temporary lane closures it creates are subject to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who frequently travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
