Sherman, Texas -- Marvin Ray Lively, 88, of Howe, Texas, passed from this life November 23, 2023. He was born August 10, 1935, at Belwood, West Virginia, coal mining camp. His parents were Cecil Thomas Lively and Edith Mae Brewster Lively.
He was a graduate of Dumas High School in 1955. He attended Odessa College.
Marvin was a veteran of the US Army, having served his country from 1955 to July of 1957. Sixteen months of his service was spent in Korea.
On February 10, 1959, he married Patricia Ann Gaddis in Cactus, Texas.
Marvin was employed by Phillips 66 Petroleum from August 10, 1960, until he retired on December 10, 1994. He later worked 4 years at Sears in Sherman and 8 years at Sam’s Club.
He was a member of The Assembly of God Church.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Lively; daughters, Karla Ann Bourque and husband Norman J. Bourque, Sandra McCorkle and her husband Booy McCorkle; 5 grandchildren, Joseph R. Bourque and his wife Stephanie Bourque, Ariel Nicole Kumpar and her husband Steve Kumpar, Christina Marie Bourque, Traves Dale McCorkle and his wife Kaitlyn McCorkle, Katelyn Giddens and her husband Austin Giddens; 2 great grandchildren, Thomas Kumpar and Lilly McCorkle; a sister Marva Jean Monk and her husband Jack Monk.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he dearly loved.
A family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Waldo Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29 at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Wallace Rains will officiate.
Interment with military honors will be held immediately after the funeral at West Hill Cemetery Pavilion.
