Bonham, Texas -- Bonham Warrior basketball fans are excited to see their team get off to a 15-5 start to begin the 2023-2024 season. The Warriors have been especially hard to handle on their home court where they have compiled an 8-1 record.
Bonham is getting impressive production in several categories from the entire lineup.
A balanced attack makes the Warriors tough to defend and Bonham has four players averaging more than 7 points a game, led by DJ Stewart's 10.8 points per game. Braeden Stewart has also been ringing up double-digit outings with an average of 10.7 points per game. Heath Brown is close behind at 8 points per game and Jagger Lindsey has been putting up 7.3 points per game.
Lindsey and Brown have been patrolling the paint, with Lindsey grabbing 7.2 rebounds per game and Brown pulling down 4.7 rebounds per game. DJ Stewart is in the mix, too, averaging 4.3 rebounds per game.
Lindsey gets off the ground in a hurry, as evidenced by his team-leading 25 blocks in his first 20 games. Jayden Ross has 11 blocks and Brown has nine blocks.
The quick hands of DJ Stewart have come up with a team-high 46 steals so far this season, but, once again, several Warriors are turning in good numbers. Brown has grabbed 40 steals, Braeden Stewart is close behind with 39 steals, followed by Lindsey (21), Jayden Ross (15), Russell Welch (13), Brae Gorman (12) and Brynlee Owens (8).
Braeden Stewart and Heath Brown are co-leaders in the assist category; both have dished off 47 assists. DJ Stewart has 31 assists and Russell Welch has handed out 28 assists.
The Warriors will enjoy a well-deserved rest during the Christmas holidays and then head to the Leonard Holiday Tournament to take on Caddo Mills at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, December 28.
Bonham will open up its district campaign on the road against Pottsboro on January 2 the Warriors' first district game at home will be against Bells on January 5.
