Sulphur Springs, Texas -- Despite 25 kills by Dodd City junior Addison Weeks, the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears held on for a five-set win over the Lady Hornets.

Sulphur Bluff started fast with a 25-13 win in the first set, but Dodd City pulled even with a 25-18 victory in the second set.

Sulphur Bluff pulled back in front with a 25-19 win in the third set. Once again, Dodd City answered with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.

In the tiebreaker, Sulphur Bluff prevailed, 15-11.

In addition to the big night by Weeks, Gracyn Shindler was also in double digits with 12 kills.

Emma Garner and Kendyl Lindsey both put down three kills, Caroline Lackey and Kenzi Freeman finished with two kills apiece and Kayleigh McBrayer had one kill.

Shindler dished out 25 assists and Weeks had 10 assists.

Freeman had a team-high 25 digs, followed closely by Shindler (24) and Weeks (24). Ralyn Daniel came up with nine digs, McBrayer had eight digs, Lindsey got under six digs and Garner had three digs.

Shindler and Weeks both finished with four aces.

The Lady Hornets (18-11) will host Grayson Christian on Thursday, October 10; JV starts at 5:00.
