Events for the whole family will be held across the city
in October and November
McKinney, Texas — As the leaves begin to change and the air becomes crisp, the City of McKinney is celebrating the fall season with an array of exciting events for residents and visitors. From fire safety demonstrations to Diwali celebrations, pumpkin decorating, and spooky Halloween fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Adapted Recreation: Pumpkin Decorating
Monday, Oct. 14, 3-7 p.m., Old Settler's Recreation Center
Decorate pumpkins for our Trick or Treat Trail event. Snacks, drinks, and staff assistance will be provided. Costumes welcome! Registration required, free.
Diwali: Festival of Lights
Friday, Oct. 18, 7-9 p.m., Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library
Celebrate the Festival of Lights with dazzling performances, colorful activities, and illuminated displays. Free.
Trick or Treat Trail
Saturday, Oct. 19, 3-7 p.m., Towne Lake Park
Walk this 1.2-mile trail filled with costume contests, food trucks, and games for the whole family. Free.
Pumpkin Dunk
Sunday, Oct. 20, noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. Special Needs Hour: 3 p.m., Apex Centre
Kids ages 2 to 12 can choose a pumpkin from the floating pumpkin patch and decorate it at the Apex Centre.
Registration required: $12 Member / $16 Non-member.
Trick-or-Treat March
Friday, Oct. 25, 9:30-10:30 a.m.; Senior Recreation Center
Preschoolers and their parents can enjoy themed activities and snacks while trick-or-treating at the Senior Recreation Center. Free, limited to the first 150 participants.
Halloween Haunt
Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library
Enjoy spooky but family-friendly Halloween activities, including pumpkin games and witchy fun. Free.
Mother & Son Date Night
Friday, Nov. 1, 5:30-8 p.m., Old Settler's Recreation Center
Western-themed evening for moms and sons. Registration required: Resident: $10 per person / Non-resident: $12.50.
Holiday Craft: Day of the Dead
Saturday, Nov. 2, 10-11:30 a.m., Old Settler's Recreation Center
Create La Catrina wood art. Ages 6 and above. Registration required: Resident: $25 / Non-resident: $30.
Fall Y'all
Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., John & Judy Gay Library
Enjoy cozy fall festivities and entertainment for all ages. Free.
Veterans Day Ceremony
Saturday, Nov. 9, Corporal RD Foster Veterans Memorial Park
Honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Free.
Holiday Craft Fair
Saturday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Senior Recreation Center
Find one-of-a-kind handmade gifts from a variety of vendors, including artwork by Senior Recreation Center members. Free.
Grandparents Camp: Pumpkin Snowmen
Monday, Nov. 25, 2-3 p.m., Senior Recreation Center
Grandparents and grandchildren ages 5-12 can bond over shared activities while creating pumpkin snowmen.
Registration required: $5 per person.
Thanks and Giving
Tuesday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to noon, John & Judy Gay Library
Celebrate Thanksgiving with turkey crafts, greeting cards, and sharing thanks at the library. Free.
