Denison, Texas -- We regretfully announce that Margaret Frances "Marge" Nykoruk, 88, of Denison completed her earthly journey on February 22, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her journey at Texoma Medical Center under the care of expert staff and Heart to Heart hospice.

Marge grew up in a working class neighborhood in the city of Detroit where she was raised by her parents along with 2 younger sisters and one younger brother. Her parents worked hard to raise their children in the Catholic faith and Polish tradition.

Marge met her husband, Wally, when he was working at the local theatre in their neighborhood as an usher. He used to save her a special seat. Marge and Wally were married on May 12, 1954. Walter had joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Selfridge Air Force base in Michigan when they welcomed their first child Theresa Marie. Eighteen months later they welcomed their second child, Gary Walter.

Wally then was stationed to Zaragoza, Spain. Marge stayed in Detroit with the kids until Gary was 1 year old and able to fly to Spain in a C-130 cargo plane. After 4 years in Spain, Wally was stationed to Boulder, Colorado where Marge welcomed their third child Larry Michael.

The family continued to travel in the military to the Philippines, Texas, and Iceland. When Wally retired in 1973, after the usual "family meeting", the family returned to Denison.

Marge was predominantly a homemaker. She made every house a home. However Marge was an independent woman and always liked to make a few bucks to help with the family budget. Early on she ironed clothes and did laundry. Later as the children grew older she liked to do catering work, she worked at the bank, she was a cafeteria lady for Denison schools. As a matter of fact it was her job at the DHS snack bar that enabled her to keep tabs on her kids while they were in school. She often knew the kids were in trouble (Gary) before they did!

Later on she cleaned houses for people, who really needed the help, and passed her ministry to her daughter Theresa. After retirement Marge continued her service work by volunteering at the gift shop at TMC for many years. Marge also volunteered at St. Patrick Catholic Church for many years as the President of the Altar Society.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Stella, her husband Wally, her sister Christine Como, and great-granddaughter Brooke Holley.

Margaret is survived by her sister Carolyn (Dennis) Jaworski, her brother Raymond (Alma) Szpadzinski, daughter Theresa (David) Osborne, sons Gary (Kerstyn) and Larry Nykoruk, 7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, and 1 step great great grandchild.

A Rosary and family visitation will be held at St. Patrick Church in Denison Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick Church Monday March 3 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a burial service at Fairview Cemetery in Denison and a reception at the St. Xavier Center at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers please make a memorial in Marge's name to your favorite charity, or to the St. Patrick Altar Society.
