The Whitesboro chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, established in January 2024, has made significant strides in Grayson and Cooke Counties, delivering 137 beds this year. With a 2025 goal of 200 more beds, the recent community bed build, sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sherman, TX Stake, was a crucial step forward.

The event saw over 200 volunteers from five congregations, the Young Men's Service League, and the broader community, contributing 1,200 service hours to construct 50 beds for local children. The project unfolded in two shifts, with 120 volunteers in the morning setting the stage for the afternoon crew to sand and assemble.

Youth participation was notable, with teens and children actively engaged at every station, guided by experienced adults. Parents appreciated the mentorship, which offered their children valuable lessons in service and tool use. One family even skipped birthday parties to join, with their children ultimately declaring the experience more rewarding than expected.

Young volunteers grew confident, taking charge and teaching others by the end of their shifts. The event not only provided beds but also fostered community spirit, skill-building, and lifelong service habits.
