
In the series opener, the Hornets stung Ector for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for an exciting 7-6 victory.
Dodd City's Cash Crossland was 2-for-3, walked once and had one RBI.
Tyler Denney, Aaron Solano and Kaleb Covington all went 1-for-3 and all three Hornets had one RBI. Denney and Solano both scored twice.
Gavin Shindler went the distance to pick up the win.
In game two, Dodd City doubled up on Ector, 16-8, to eliminate the Eagles from the playoffs.
Dodd City had an 8-7 advantage after four innings and it was still a one-run game after the fifth frame, with the Hornets holding a tenuous lead, 9-8.
But it was all Dodd City in the sixth inning, with the Hornets erupting for seven runs. A scoreless seventh inning gave Dodd City a 16-8 win to sweep the series and advance deeper into the playoffs.
Aaron Solano went 2-for-3, scored three times and drove in three runs.
Kaleb Covington was 1-for-2 with three RBIs.
Judd Shipman was also 1-for-2, walked twice and had one RBI.
Cash Crossland went 1-for-3, scored once and drove in a pair of runs.
Gavin Shindler was 1-for-4 and had one RBI.
Eastyn Weissert worked the mound for seven innings in game two, scattering six hits and fanning three Eagles to get the win. Weissert also walked twice, scored once and drove in a run to aid his own cause.
The Hornets advance to take on Gordon in the regional finals.
