SHERMAN, Texas. April 30, 2013 – Home Hospice of Grayson County’s second annual Fish Cook-Off at Loose Wheels Texas on April 21 turned out to be a great success with beautiful weather, a much larger crowd than last year, and over 175 pounds of fish served. The event raised over $17,000, almost double what was made last year. Home Hospice is the only locally based nonprofit hospice in the area; they provide end-of-life care to any eligible patient desiring their service, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay for those services.

“It is this kind of generosity and participation that enables us to journey alongside patients, families and anyone who is grieving,” said Sherry Little, Executive Director of Home Hospice. “And we are grateful for the support from the community that helps us fulfill our mission.”
Everyone involved in the Fish Cook-Off seemed to have a good time and many were raving about their plans to come back again for the 3rd annual Fish Cook-Off. Music by Greg Guymon and Morris McCann, Casey Daniels, and Jason Meadows added to the fun of the day and brought people to the dance floor.

“A big thank you goes out to all who helped to make our Fish Cook-Off a success,” said Sherry Little, executive director of Home Hospice. “Thank you to those who made special donations, our cooks, our committee members, all our volunteers, everyone who came out for some great fish and a beautiful day, and, of course, our 2013 Sponsors.”

“I’ve had the honor and pleasure of serving as Chair for the “Fish Cook Off” for two years now. It’s personal for me; it’s my way of giving back to an organization that gave dignity and peace to family members during their last few months of life and I will be forever grateful,” said Janet Mrozinski, Chair of the Fish Cook-Off Committee. “Plans are already starting for next year’s Fish Cook-Off, and we hope even more people plan to come out next year!”
