Denison, Texas -- Charity Ruth Bryant, 84, of Denison was called to her heavenly home Wednesday, May 1, 2013, there to be with her Lord. She was born July 15, 1928 in Denison, the daughter of Richard and Esther Spencer Brown, the youngest of two daughters born to this union. She attended the Anderson/Terrell Schools of Denison and graduated in 1944. At an early age she attended and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Denison. Charity met and married George A. Bryant, Jr. and to this union six children were born.

The family moved to Midland, Texas and later returned to Denison. She then joined Antioch Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member serving as President of the Mother’s Board, President of the Mission # 1 and served in the Antioch fellowship hall until she began declining health. She had a servant’s spirit and loved to cook, sew, garden, co-ordinate weddings and parties and let’s not forget shopping.

Charity was loved by all who knew her and she loved all that she knew. Mother Love title was given to her by her Pastor, Rev. Gardner. Being active in the community she served on the first Anderson/Terrell School Reunion and the Terrell Memorial Foundation. She worked many years in Denison in private homes.

Charity was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Joy Louise, three children Shirley, Gloria Faye and Richard, also her granddaughter Brittany. She is survived by her children Barbara Rhymes of Fort Worth, Texas. Lillian Perry of Denison, Texas. George Bryant III of Ambrose, Texas. 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the New Hope Christian Church Fellowship, 2810 S. Mirick Street Denison, Texas. Bishop L. Goodman is the Host Pastor. Officiating will be her pastor Rev. Manuel Gardner of the Antioch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Public visitation will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home, 415 S Collins Freeway, Howe, Texas. 903-532-5577. Charity will lie in State in her home church Antioch Baptist Church, 700 W Walker Street Denison, Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home-Howe.
