The Savoy High School UIL Math Team is once again advancing to the State UIL meet in Austin. The team will compete at the University of Texas campus on Wednesday, May 22.
Savoy junior Riley Neal was part of the team that won the Math State Championship in 2011 and will compete again this year. Other members of the team include Jacob Browder, Jack Neal, and John Rudy – all freshmen. The team is coached by Savoy math teacher, Brad Bos, who graduated from Oklahoma University with a master's degree in mathematics.
When asked about the success of his team, Mr. Bos replied, “This is a major accomplishment for such a young team. I am looking forward to this year’s results and future results.”
Mr. Bos has coached students to state three times out of the last four years.
Savoy High School Principal, Mike Smith stated, “We are very proud of our UIL program and the continued success of our math team. These team members are all outstanding young men and I am glad they represent our district.”
Jacob is the son of John and Laura Browder. John is the son of Scott and Glenda Rudy. Jack and Riley are the sons of Brian and Meredith Neal.
