Sheila Ann Large, 41, of Cartwright, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on May 15, 2013 by 59th District Court, Judge Rayburn Nall after being convicted by a jury of Possession of Methamphetamine, 4 Grams to 200 Grams. The sentence was recommended by the jury after they had convicted Large of the crime after a three-day trial.
In October 2011, members of the Denison Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Large after she left a Denison residence which was suspected of conducting drug activity. Officers Don Rhodes, Jesse Grissom, and William Deering observed Large hide a bag of marijuana in the car and arrested her at the scene. At the jail, upon conducting a strip search, officers discovered a bag of Methamphetamine hidden in Large’s body. The jury convicted large after 30 minutes of deliberation.
During the punishment portion of the trial, Assistant District Attorneys Britton Brooks and Bi Hunt presented evidence that Large had continued to use methamphetamine since her arrest and had been caught shoplifting from Walmart two weeks prior to trial. After 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury sentenced Large to 15 years in prison.

“That was a strong jury” said prosecutor Britton Brooks. “We are glad jurors are as tired of the methamphetamine problem as we are. Ms. Large had over 4 grams of methamphetamine on her, and that is more than just a user amount. It was clear she was involved in more than just using the drugs, and she continued to commit new offenses after being released on bond.”
The crime of which Large was convicted was a 2nd degree felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine. Large was represented by Sherman attorney Gaylon Riddels.
