Students from Deanie’s Music Studio presented their annual Spring Music Recital on June 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Elizabeth May Room at the American Bank of Texas.

Guitar student Ben Martin opened the Recital with "Blues/Rock Riff" and "Power Chord Shuffle." Katherine Vaught our second participating guitar student performed three pieces, "Angie," "Signe" and "Here Comes the Sun."

Piano students were next to perform. Katherine’s younger sister Maggie played two pieces that Katherine played the first year she performed on the piano; those two pieces are "Morning Song" and "Ode to Joy." Maggie also played "Baby Guppie."

Katherine joined Maggie for a duet on "Morning Song." Tiana Jenkin was next and her two favorite pieces were "Chimes" and "Lollipop Waltz." Miss Deanie joined Tiana to play "Old MacDonald."

Elizabeth Lira had two favorites to solo, "Itsy Bitsy Bird" and "Listen to This," as well as two duets with Miss Deanie, "Lullaby" and "One Rainy Day." Miranda Hutchons played "Jumping Jelly Beans."  Her second piece was played ten years earlier by her cousin Cheyenne Sisk at her first Spring Recital, "Dancing Ponies." Cheyenne joined Miranda for a duet on "Camptown Races."

Elizabeth Prate played "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Standing in the Need of Prayer." Lucas Lira had four favorites, "Yankee Doodle Drums," "Fur Elise," "In the Hall of the Mountain Kings" and "Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah."

Katherine Vaught returned to stage to perform "Cheshire Cat Cool" and "Linus and Lucy."

Our final pianist was Cheyenne Sisk. She was joined by Miss Deanie for a duet, "Heart and Soul," followed by two solos, "Midnight Escapade" and "Last Date." Miss Deanie returned to close the recital with Cheyenne in a duet, "God Be with You Till We Meet Again."

Proud family members and friends watched as practice trophies were awarded to all the young and talented musicians.

A reception of cake, cookies and punch closed the big day.
