Bonham, Texas -- First Presbyterian Church of Bonham (818 N. Main Street) is hosting a Longest Night service on Friday night, December 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. We recognize that many have had losses that may lead to an “empty chair” feeling especially during holiday seasons. These losses can be of a job, a dream, a loved one, a friend, a relationship, whatever strikes our hearts as a loss. Aren’t these holiday times supposed to be filled with joy? Yes, but feelings of hurt, grief, isolation, loneliness, anger, or whatever emotions we may be having are legitimate emotions and must also be acknowledged. Let’s journey through them together.
There will be music, candle lighting, prayers, scriptures, all paths to encourage us to recognize grief, courage, love, memories, and the presence of God even in our pain. All are invited who might benefit from acknowledging our wide array of losses and emotions during this Christmas season.
