McKinney City Council passes resolution to request funding from the McKinney EDC and CDC

McKinney, Texas – McKinney City Council passed a resolution during its regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 20, directing City Manager Paul Grimes to request grant funding from the McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC) for the planning, design, and improvement of the east side of McKinney National Airport for future general aviation and/or commercial passenger service purposes.

“Maximizing the commercial value of McKinney National Airport has long been a priority of the City of McKinney and City Council, and this demonstrates their commitment to helping the airport realize its full potential as an asset to the region. As we continue to expand and improve our facilities and services on the east side, we are confident our airport will bring significant economic benefits, including increased job opportunities, new businesses, and enhanced quality of life for our community," said Ken Carley, Director of McKinney National Airport.

Under Texas law, the construction of public infrastructure and improvements for developing and expanding airports, hangars, and related infrastructure is one of the intended uses of Type A (MEDC) and Type B (MCDC) corporation sales tax revenues for promoting new and expanded businesses in McKinney.
