Athens, Texas -- McKinney North's Lady Bulldogs took a long bus ride to Athens, Texas to play the Lufkin Panthers for the first round of the 2024 UIL Texas Volleyball State Championships. The Lady Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders with impressive serves, sets, saves and slams to take down District 10-5A champions Lufkin (15-1) in straight sets.

McKinney North junior Allyn Brewer led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 kills.

Kaitlyn Jefferson put down eight kills, Chloe Lewis slammed down six kills, Ayanna Moore finished with five kills, with Anna Sayman and Madi Traylor both knocking down three kills. Gabi Rodriguez had one kill.

Jordan Kowallis dished out 23 assists to her Lady Bulldog hitters and Malia McNeal handed out nine assists.

Rodriguez and McNeal had three aces apiece.

Lewis had a team-high five blocks and Jefferson finished with three blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs will play Highland Park in the next round.
