Sherman, Texas -- Sara Jane Beck, 48, passed away on November 5 after battling cancer for nearly a decade. Sara is survived by her husband, Daniel Beck (51), and three children, Emily Beck (25), Owen Beck (23), and Elijah Beck (21).
Sara entered the world on August 6, 1976. She was a special-order baby to parents Mariel and Charles Barnes when her grandmother, Roberta Zost (deceased), requested that the new baby grandchild be a red-haired baby girl. She was the third child of six, with siblings Joshua, Carrie, Rebekah, Abigail, and Levi.
Sara lived her life helping and bringing happiness to others. At a young age Sara was often responsible with watching her younger siblings, while both parents returned to school and worked. Sara herself excelled in school and had a keen intellect. Her intellect, love of books, and a strong sense of adventure often resulted in her leading her siblings in fantastical games or through late night tales.
Sara Jane, as known to many, met the love of her life Daniel while home from college for the summer. Sara and Daniel were married shortly after on December 14, 1995.
Sara later finished her schooling in accounting at Texas Women’s University and spent most of her career working for businesses in the health care industry. Sara was always concerned with the welfare of her close and extended family. She would often check in with family members and arrange events where family could be together. Sara extended this love to others and was faithful in her church callings where she provided service and care for others in need. Sara was often a counselor, sounding board, and someone to listen to those that knew her. She will be missed.
Sara Jane Beck was preceded in death by her father, Charles Melvin Barnes, and sister, Carrie Ann Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, 1900 W. Lamberth Rd. in Sherman.
