Workforce Solutions Texoma is proud to announce that Grayson College was honored by the Texas Workforce Commision as the State’s All-Star College Award winner.  Grayson College accepted the award at the Texas Workforce Commission's (TWC) 27th Annual Texas Workforce Conference held Dec. 4 - Dec. 6, 2024, in Grapevine.  The All-Star College of the Year Award honors a community college, technical college, or Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service that has improved the Texas workforce system and its local community by identifying, creating, and contributing to worker skills enhancement and training that best supports business needs.

Grayson College has designed 3 programs to help meet the needs of the semiconductor industry:  EET (Electrical and Engineering Technician), Automation Technician and the machining industry with AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Program).

With financial assistance provided from the Skills Development Funds (SDF) and Upskills grants from the Texas Workforce Commission,  Grayson has partnered with regional manufacturers to design and customize programming  for the semiconductor and local machining industries.  Grayson is currently investing in equipment and space planning to scale these programs to help meet the needs as they arise.  To date, using the  SDF and Upskills grants Grayson partnered with regional manufacturers to offer over 40,994 training hours to 6 different companies  and over 39 courses impacting 572 individuals.  Additionally, this year Grayson used Upskills grant funding to train 277 healthcare professionals a total of 5501 hours.

Grayson is also working with Global Wafers America/Globitech and Texas Instruments to continue scaling to meet local needs. GC has partnered with Dallas College to develop training programs necessary to support the semiconductor industry.  Texoma is the home to the new $30 Billion Texas Instruments factory which covers a campus the size of 26 football fields. Global Wafers America is building a $5 Billion plant within a half mile of TI.  Both factories combined will employ over 3,000 people—all these future employees need upskilling to be able to function in the new environments.  GC has done a phenomenal job of building programs, equipping labs and hiring faculty to provide the educational training needed. Grayson has trained 24 Texas Instrument employees to be semiconductor technicians in their world class factory that is expected to open in 2025.
