Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets took an early lead before falling to Class 4A Van Alstyne in a contest played Friday afternoon at Dodd City High School.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to an 8-4 lead, but Van Alstyne pulled even at 9-9 as the first quarter ended.

Van Alstyne opened the second period with a 14-3 run to open up a 23-12 lead. Dodd City battled back with a 6-2 run to cut the margin down to 25-18 at the half.

As the third quarter got underway, Dodd City got within three points of the lead, 27-24, but that was as close as the Lady Hornets would get in this game.

Van Alstyne pulled away down the stretch to earn a 53-36 win on the road.

Dodd City's Addison Weeks led all scorers with 21 points, Gracyn Shindler knocked down nine points, Kendyl Lindsey finished with four points and Ralyn Daniels put up two points.

Alysia Kight led Van Alstyne with 15 points and Emory Langsdorf was also in double digits with 10 points.

The Dodd City Lady Hornets (9-5) will compete in the Calisburg Basketball Tournament December 26-28.
