Trenton, Texas -- Leon Rutledge, 92, of Trenton, TX passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1932 in McKinney, TX to Stanford and Stella Rutledge. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.
Leon worked for the Georgia Pacific Lumber Company and Anna ISD. He loved antiquing, especially Saturday morning garage sales. He also dabbled in real estate and enjoyed flipping houses. When his children were little they recall the fond memory of Dad growing okra patches and all the children picking the okra. Leon enjoyed gardening so this was a delight for him. Above all Leon's favorite title was Papaw. Time spent with his grandchildren were the highlight of Leon's days.
Leon is preceded in death by wife of 46 years, Virginia Ruth Rutledge and daughters, Regina Reno and Kathy Pearson.
Survivors include sister, Eloise Daniels, brother, James Rutledge, children, Sandra Ragsdale (Donald), Vickie Welborn (Robert), Andrea Wilson (Troy), Michael Rutledge (Vicky), Carol Loftice (Mark), Lisa Rutledge, Christy Palovich (Chad), 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Family night will be at Wise Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The graveside service will be Monday, December 23, 2024 at Van Winkle Cemetery in Princeton, TX at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ragsdale, Nathan Ragsdale, Andrea Welborn, Austin Ragsdale, Seth Chambers, and Cody Ragsdale.
