Bonham, Texas -- Three of the six positions on Bonham City Council will be up for grabs in the city's municipal election May 3, 2025. Voters will go to the polls to select representatives for Ward 2, 3 and 4.

The incumbent for Ward 2 is Tim La Vergne II, Wayne Moore is the incumbent for Ward 3 and Allen Sanderson currently represents Ward 4.

There is a two-term limit on city council. La Vergne II and Moore have termed out, but Sanderson only served for a one-year unexpired term, so he is eligible for re-election.

Moore has a remarkable record of public service, including serving on Bonham City Council for 20 years.

(After serving as two terms on city council, it is permissible to run for mayor, or sit out 365 days and run again.)

Candidates may file for these three positions during regular business hours beginning January 15, 2025, and applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14.

City council candidates must live in the ward they are running to represent, however all city voters can vote in both races.

Prospective candidates may pick up an informational packet from Heather Stockton, City of Bonham Secretary.

Stockton will serve as Early Voting Clerk.

Early voting for the May 3, 2025 general election will be April 22 until April 29, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The days with extended voting hours will likely be April 24 and April 29, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Bonham City Hall, located at 514 Chestnut Street, will be the polling location for early voting and election day voting on May 3, 2025.

The deadline to register to vote is April 3, 2025.
