Anna, Texas (Jan. 22, 2025) – With its population and economy growing at an unprecedented pace, the City of Anna is revisiting its roadmap for the future. The Anna 2050 Comprehensive Plan, a strategic document guiding land use and development, is undergoing a significant update to reflect the city’s evolving needs.
The City Council has partnered with national planning firm Kimley-Horn to facilitate this major amendment, focusing on the Future Land Use Chapter of the plan. Work began in October 2024 and will continue through March 2025, with a strong emphasis on gathering input from residents (“neighbors”) to ensure their goals and aspirations are front and center.
“The Anna 2050 Comprehensive Plan serves as a blueprint for our city’s future, and as we grow, it’s critical to revisit and refine it to align with the priorities of our neighbors,” said Stephanie Scott-Sims, Anna’s Director of Development Services. “It’s about ensuring our city grows in a way that reflects the vision of our community. We’re building a future that balances opportunity, sustainability, and quality of life.”
Community engagement
Anna neighbors may provide input during the process via two opportunities:
- Community Open House: Interested parties can drop by Rattan Elementary School on February 6 from 6–8 p.m. to learn about the plan, ask questions, and share feedback.
- Online Survey: A survey will be available from February 4 to February 14 on the city’s website, providing an accessible way for everyone to share their thoughts.
The amendment to the Comprehensive Plan focuses on key priorities such as land use, housing, and infrastructure. With Anna’s population tripling in size over the past decade, this update will serve as a critical guide for managing growth while maintaining the city’s character and charm.
“The input of our neighbors is invaluable in shaping a plan that works for everyone,” Scott-Sims added. “We want to make sure everyone has a voice in what Anna’s future looks like.”
