Grants totaling $144,975 will contribute to the overall
vitality and business growth of the city

McKinney, Texas (Jan. 30, 2025)—The McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC) is pleased to announce that it has awarded promotional grants totaling $144,975 for advertising and promoting events in McKinney that will support business development and tourism for the city. These grants are a testament to MCDC's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for McKinney residents and visitors.

MCDC Promotional and Community Event Grants are awarded each year for advertising and marketing activities to promote events that showcase the McKinney community. Following the submission of the grant applications, MCDC board members reviewed the funding requests and heard presentations from each applicant describing the impact of their proposed programs on the local community.

"The awarded grants will provide advertising and marketing resources for organizations to bring their events to life and make a positive difference in McKinney. MCDC's collaboration with nonprofits and event planners contributes to the vitality and economic growth of the city," said Angela Richardson-Woods, MCDC Board Chair.

Listed below are the Promotional and Community Grants awarded by MCDC: 

  • Texas Women Society – McKinney Asian Festival
  • McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra – 2025-2026 Season
  • McKinney Chamber Foundation – Dia de los Muertos at Mitchell Park
  • St. Peter's Episcopal Church – Empty Bowls
  • Heritage Guild of Collin County – Chestnut Square events, including Farmers Market, educational programming, Ghostly Haunting, Tour of Homes, and Farm to Table
  • Texas Homegrown Music – HippieFest at TUPPS Brewery, Texas Music Revolution Homegrown Stage
  • Collin County History Museum – Events, including Night at the Museum, WWE Launch of Haystack Calhoun's Exhibit, Wedding Bliss, Shelby Exhibit, Honoring Our Vets
  • MillHouse Foundation – Festivals, East McKinney Community Mural, International Art in Action, and Makers Markets
  • Sostenuto Choral Community of North Texas – Spring Concert
  • ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship – ManeGait LIVE Country Fair and Concert at TUPPS Brewery
  • McKinney Public Library Foundation – Community-wide cultural events hosted by McKinney's libraries 
  • Marching Music Made in McKinney – Drum Battle at TUPPS Brewery, Drum Corps International Competition at McKinney ISD Stadium
  • McKinney Main Street – Arts in Bloom Festival
  • Sanchez Charities – Run for Hope: Walk in Unity
  • SBG Hospitality – 2025 Sip and Stroll Events
