Bonham, Texas -- Graveside services for Jackie Dewoody, 82, of Mesquite, TX. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Gober Cemetery in Gober, TX. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, at Mesquite Church of Christ 400 West Davis Mesquite ,TX. 75149. A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Jackie passed away on February 1, 2025 in Bonham, Texas.
Jackie Lou Carpenter Dewoody was born to Helen “Louise” and “Jack” Willard Ralph Carpenter on April 27th, 1942, in Gober, Texas. She graduated from Bonham High School in 1960 and soon after began her career at Texas Power and Light (TP&L). On September 20th, 1963, she married Charles Junior Dewoody in Houston, Texas.
Jackie made a career as supervisor at (TP&L) where she worked for 37 years at 6 different branches. In 1995 she graduated from Amberton University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Relations and Business. She “retired” in 1997 from TP&L (TXU) and promptly began work as the secretary for the Mesquite Church of Christ for an additional 26 years. Junior preceded Jackie in death after 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Jackie is survived by her brother, Billy Carl Carpenter and wife Cynthia of Rowlett, Texas; stepson, Michael Dewoody and his wife Tracy of Longview, Texas; son, Myron Dewoody and his wife Deanna of Argyle, Texas; daughter, Heather Neve of Sunnyvale, Texas and her daughter Kristin Garza of The Woodlands, Texas. Her grandchildren are the following: Abigail Dewoody, Blake Dewoody, Charles Benjamin Dewoody and wife Karlie, Dakota Reagan and husband Bennett, Breanna Splain and husband Christian, Tré Neve, Kenzi Garza, Dylan Neve and Kestin Garza. She has one great-grandchild to Bennett and Dakota, Blue Charles Reagan.
Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Dewoody, Charles Benjamin Dewoody, Tré Neve, Dylan Neve, Bennett Reagan, and Christian Splain.
