“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12.

Sherman, Texas -- Michael Keith Morgan was born on April 7, 1943 to Durwood and Gladys Morgan. He was born and raised in Sherman, Texas and attended Sherman High School before joining the Navy. As a sailor, Mike worked as a boiler operator on the USS Thomaston and the USS Cook. His service occurred during the Cuban Missile Crisis, beginning in 1961 and ending in 1965.

After completing his service, Mike returned to Sherman and became a fireman. Mike, who was lovingly nicknamed “Cocklebur,” drove the firetruck for the Sherman Fire Department from 1972 to 2000—nearly thirty years. Outside of work, Mike was an active member of Luella First Baptist Church, and regularly attended the Men’s Breakfast.

On September 13, 1968, Mike married the love of his life, Linda. Mike and Linda built their home in Luella where they raised their two sons, Jimmy and Mark. The whole family loved to travel to Pagosa Springs, Colorado for camping trips. Mike greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors. He also loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden. Mike grew the most beautiful bluebonnets, and everyone would come to his house to take pictures in them. Some of his grandchildren’s fondest memories include spending time with their Papaw in his backyard.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Linda Morgan, his parents Durwood and Gladys Morgan, his brother Jon Mark Morgan, and his sister Kay Turner. He is survived by his sister Marilyn Saunders and her husband Larry, his son Jimmy Morgan and his wife Wendy, and his son Mark Morgan and his wife Ginger. He is also survived by his grandchildren—Emily Reitinger and her husband Taylor, Haley Tate and her husband Chance, Alli Browning and her husband Jace, Kacie Morgan, Justin Morgan, and Faith Morgan. He has also left behind many extended family members, cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Memorial Donations should be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, T2T.org.
