Rita married Bobby Ray Lyon on July 11, 1958. Bobby joined the US Army shortly thereafter and was a crew chief for the L-19 Bird Dog, a reconnaissance aircraft and they were stationed in Colorado Springs, CO as well as living the remainder of their years in Leonard, Texas.
Rita was passionate about loving the Lord, church, and the community. She served for decades in the First Baptist Church of Leonard as well as Valley Creek Baptist Church. Rita also served her community for many years as a cub scout leader, and as a part of the Leonard PTO. Rita was an exceptional wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Rita embodied love, kindness, and generosity in everything she did and every person she encountered, creating a legacy of inspiration. Though her absence will be deeply felt her love-filled heart will forever be a beacon
of hope. It is fitting that she entered Heaven’s Gates on Valentine’s Day, a celebration of love that will forever be etched in our hearts.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Ray Lyon of 66 years, Her Parents Vernie & Bessie Hall, her brother Billy Hall, and her sister Evelyn White.
Rita is survived by her son Randy Lyon and wife Terri of Ft. Worth, Texas and her daughter Kimberly Wilson of Grand Junction, Colorado. Rita is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren and one well-loved great-grandson: Savannah Conley and husband Kenny, as well as their son Levon, Hannah Lyon, Lillian Hubbard, and Caylee Lyon, as well as her sister Joyce Ann Quilantan of Ft. Worth and her brother Morris Hall of Billings, Montana.
In tribute to the enduring love of Bobby and Rita Lyon, who shared astonishing 66 years of marriage, we will hold a graveside service with military honors at the Randolph-Lindsey Cemetery in Randolph, TX on Bobby’s birthday, February 21 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate their extraordinary bond and legacy.
