Ector, Texas -- Vera Ruth Hill passed away from this life on February 16, 2025, surrounded by family who loved her so dearly and devoted friends of Clyde Cosper State Veterans Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.
Vera was born north of Savoy, Texas on September 9, 1930, to Robert and Mary Bell Bellows and attended Fairview and Ector ISD. Vera at the age of 17 married Ernest Hill Jr. on September 27, 1947, in Belton, Texas. They were a devoted couple for over 65 years, cherished parents, and a steadfast friend to many. Her life was a shining example of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family and community. She retired from Texoma Medical Center and was a devoted mother and housewife for many years.
Beyond her professional achievements, Vera was known for her compassionate nature and willingness to lend a helping hand. She was actively involved in Ector Baptist Church.
Vera Ruth Hill was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Hill Jr., her parents, Robert and Mary Bellows, daughter -in- law Vurlenda Hill, siblings, Marietta Snow, Fannie Shackelford, Hezzie Bellows, Herman Bellows, and Roy Bellows.
Survivors include, children, Ernest Hill (Terri), John Hill (Debbie), Judy Taylor (Mark), grandchildren, April Hill (James McCarley), Aaron Hill (Amanda), Kristen Klockgether (Lance), Jonathan Witte (Neema), Brandon Witte (Meredith), Sarah Wheeler (Austin Hardy), Daniel Godwin (Shelly) John Hill (Kelli), Dusty Hill, great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Zach, Dylan, Nikki, Makalya, Hanna, Issac (Ike), Makena, Amelia, Preston, Logan, Carson, Adriel, Raylen, Nalyssa, Wesley, Aleea, Kaden, Kenli, Major, Braedon, Cohen, Colby, Addie, Gracie, Hannah, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Ector Baptist Church, 302 S. Elm St, Ector, TX 75439. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
