Bonham, Texas -- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy Joe Thomas, who left us on February 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on December 23, 1946, in Bonham, Texas.
Tommy's sense of humor, kind spirit, and genuine care for others touched the lives of many. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they made with
him. He was most known for his years of service to the community at Thomas Lawnmower Shop. He loved working in his yard with his rose bushes, going to the
lake to camp and ski, garage sales and finding hidden or forgotten treasures, roller skating, and collecting guns, knives, and coins. He was a hard worker who loved to
help others and most of all he loved his family and his dog Pepper.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m., allowing friends and family to come together to remember Tommy and share stories of the impact he had on their lives. Bro. Mark Posey will preside over the service.
Pallbearers will include Kurt Klause, Gerry Thomas, Brent Wright, Carl Prock, John Townsend, and Greg Sadler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Harris, Randy Baccus, Rick Hazelip, and Bert Simpson.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Edison Thomas and Floy Thomas Pearson; stepfather Claude Pearson; brothers, Leon Dewayne Thomas, Willam Glen
(Bill) Thomas; and sister, Darlene Bateman.
He is survived by Mary Thomas; two children, Sheri Sparks and husband Rich, and Joe Thomas and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Cesaley (Casey) Hill, Cole (Abbie) Sparks, Alexis (Hayden) Thomas, Zane Thomas; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tommy is also survived by Leslie Smart, Amber (David) Wright, James (Melanie) Ritchie, grandkids; Cody Edwards, Kaitlyn Edwards, Caleb Dalton, and Timothy Ritchie, Erica (Cody) Allen, Kayla Wright, Brandee (Bryan) Braneon, Brent (Nicole) Wright, as well as fourteen great-grandkids.
