Eureka Springs, Arkansas -- Whether you're a veteran guide used to catching massive walleye and trout, or a youngster just beginning the quest for fish, success on the water is measured in many ways, and it doesn't stop for winter (well, it doesn't stop ALL of the time, just maybe this week).

Austin Kennedy (above), who reports regularly for the Fishing Report from the tailwater of Beaver Lake Dam in northwest Arkansas, lassoed this major-league walleye recently in the tailwater.

Meanwhile, Seth Roberts was thanking the AGFC through his email to askagfc@agfc.ar.gov for stocking the Bishop Park Pond in Bryant with rainbow trout, as it led to a happy smile from his daughter with this rainbow (right) on their outing Feb. 2.

"We have been having a blast fishing for rainbows," Seth said, adding that his daughter was still on the quest for one of the 10 or so special, tagged golden trout that were stock at Bishop Park and other Family and Community Fishing Program ponds this winter.

Don't forget: If you catch one of those goldens, send in the tag for a fun fishing prize and a chance at the grand prize: a guided fishing trip on the Little Red River.

And, up on the Spring River, guide Mark Crawford's son, Hunter, got into a few smallmouth bass a few weeks ago, catching them on the fly and then releasing them to be caught another day. Here's one of them below.
