Durant, Oklahoma -- Choctaw Grand Theater in Durant will welcome Sturgill Simpson to the stage Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.

John Sturgill Simpson is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and country music artist who has released eight solo albums. He is a critically acclaimed musician with a style often compared to outlaw country. Simpson released his debut album, High Top Mountain, in 2013 on his own label. The following year, he released Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, which included the single "Turtles All the Way Down." Based out of Nashville, Simpson is an independent neotraditional country music artist from Jackson, Kentucky.

Simpson has also compiled an impressive resume as an actor. He made his acting debut with a cameo in the 2011 film Orca Park. In 2021, Simpson was cast in Martin Scorsese's epic Western crime drama film Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) as bootlegger Henry Grammer, who was involved in the Osage Indian murders.

Simpson told Rolling Stone magazine that his 2021 album, The Ballad of Dood and Juanita, would be the last one released under his name. His newest album, Passage du Desir, and tour are credited to his alter ego, Johnny Blue Skies.
