Grayson County, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced a road closure will occur on FM 697 at Choctaw Creek bridge beginning Feb. 24, in Grayson County. The closure in this area is needed to install new sheet pylons. Work is scheduled for two weeks.

The road closure will be at J P Cave Road on the north end and Webb Smith Road on the south end. The road will be open to local traffic only with extra barricades and signs at Choctaw Creek bridge.

The schedule for these closures may change due to supplies and the weather, officials said.

Electronic Message Boards were put into place on Jan. 27 to inform the motoring public of the upcoming road closure. These message boards were placed prior to J P Cave Road and Webb Smith Road. The message on the message boards will change on Feb. 24 to indicate that the road is closed ahead.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or
car audio or navigation systems.
