Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets fell behind early in a 10-run loss to the Class 4A North Lamar JV team.

North Lamar opened up with seven runs in the top of the first frame. Both teams plated one run in the second inning to make the score 8-1. After three scoreless innings, both teams added one run in the sixth stanza.

North Lamar scored six runs in the top of the seventh. The Dodd City bats came alive in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs, but the rally ran out of gas giving North Lamar a 15-5 win.

Caysen Lappin went 3-for-3, walked once and scored a run for Dodd City.

Weldon Garner was 2-for-4, drove in two runs and scored once. Brody Lappin had one RBI.

Maddox Lappin, Cash Crossland, Gavin Shindler and Riley Walker all had one hit apiece for the Hornets.

The Hornets (0-1) will take on the North Lamar JV squad again on Friday, February 28 at North Lamar. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
