Mobile program launch showcases
city's variety of culinary offerings
Plano, Texas -- Visit Plano, the destination marketing organization for the City of Plano, is launching its popular “Taste of Plano Foodie Pass” and is celebrating 5 years of foodie fun! The award-winning program, which launches today, is designed to highlight Plano’s diverse restaurant scene. The pass was first introduced in 2021 to support the local restaurant community in recovering from the impacts of COVID-related shutdowns.
The free, mobile-friendly program features a digital passport showcasing nearly 78 Plano restaurants offering everything from local coffee brews and refreshing ice cream to good ole Texas barbecue and authentic Asian cuisine. Many eateries also offer special discounts and other perks with their purchases. A list of participating restaurants can be found here.
From March 3-September 30, consumers simply go to the landing page at visitplano.com/tasteofplano to sign up for free. A link is then sent to the user’s mobile phone, which opens the passport and directs the user to add the icon to their home screen for easy access any time. No bulky downloads or apps are required, so the user doesn’t need to worry about phone space.
Then, the fun begins. Users can filter by cuisine type or browse the entire list of participating restaurants for a tempting variety of food and special offers that can be redeemed when ordering. Once the passholder arrives at their chosen eatery, they check in on their mobile phone using the saved passport link.
Users accumulate points for checking-in at participating restaurants and redeeming coupons, then their points can be cashed in for fun swag provided by Visit Plano such as new commemorative t-shirts, coffee tumblers, travel mugs, and portable speakers.
After checking in to 20 restaurants, those overachieving passholders will automatically be entered into the “Fit for a Foodie” sweepstakes. This year’s sweepstakes offerings include various Plano foodie experiences. The first place winner will receive a complimentary mixology class for 6 people at the Renaissance Dallas Plano Legacy West, plus $200 in gift cards ($600 value). The second place winner will receive a Lone Star Food Tour gift card for 4 people to participate in a Downtown Plano food tour ($436 value). The third place winner will receive a My French Recipe gift card for 2 people to participate in a French cooking class ($200 value).
"The Taste of Plano Foodie Pass has become a beloved tradition, showcasing the incredible culinary diversity our city has to offer," said Visit Plano Assistant Director Millerann Moya. "Not only does it highlight local restaurants, but it also brings our community together and drives meaningful economic impact by encouraging both residents and visitors to explore Plano’s vibrant food scene."
