Claude E. Caffee to speak to Lamar Co. Genealogical Society March Meeting

Paris, Texas -- Claude E. Caffee, a Honey Grove and Fannin County historian, will be our speaker this month at the Lamar County Genealogical Society meeting. He will bring a program about the White Rock community, located in the Southwestern part of Lamar County, as well as West Lamar School, Hickory Grove Cemetery,  and a little history on Mr. Smith’s General Store in Honey Grove.  He plans on showing various pictures, for those in attendance to enjoy.

Claude graduated from West Lamar High School in 1960, immediately enrolled at Paris Junior College and completed his bachelor’s degree at Commerce in 1964.  He has spent forty-four years in public education:  Pittsburg ISD, teaching English, Pittsburg, TX; seven years with Arlington ISD as an English teacher and counselor; after completing his doctorate, seven years at Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, AR.; and then the remainder of his education career as a counselor, teacher, administrator with Dallas County Community College, on the Brookhaven campus in Farmers Branch.

Claude retired in 2008 and his wife and he returned to Honey Grove, where they have lived almost 20 years.  He is currently the mayor for the city of Honey Grove; having served nine years in this capacity.

He currently serves as chairman for the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association, Petty, TX.
