Bonham, Texas -- David "Dave" Lee Watson, 73, of Bonham, TX, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 30, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, Dave grew up in St. Peters, Missouri, where his kind heart, strong work ethic, and love for family began to shape the man so many came to admire.

A proud veteran, Dave served his country in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975. After his service, he went on to work as a dedicated postal carrier in Plano, Texas, for over 30 years, forming countless friendships and always greeting others with a warm smile.

Dave’s heart was with his family, and his greatest joy came from the memories he created with them. He led countless family road trips across the United States, always with his camera in hand, capturing nature and the beautiful faces of those he loved most. He found peace playing his guitar—especially around the campfire on camping trips—and spent many happy hours reading, taking photographs, and volunteering in his church community.

He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, serving both St. Mark Catholic Church in Plano and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Bonham, where he held the honor of Grand Knight and was named Grand Knight of the Year by the Dallas Diocese. He was also a long-time blood donor with Carter Blood Care, quietly giving to others as he always had—with generosity and humility.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Sharon Watson; son Colin Watson and daughter-in-law Jennifer Watson, and their sons Parker and Austin; daughter Jill Smisek and son-in-law Brian Smisek, and their daughters Claire and Emma Doyle (Dalton Doyle). He also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Becky Carroll (Ron, deceased), Karen Gooch (Rocky), Patti Smith, Robert Watson (Tracy); his sisters-in-law Gayle Burbach (Mike, deceased) and Sandy Kelly (Dan); and brother-in-law Leroy Bush (Robin); along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gladys Watson, and his in-laws, Roland and Shirley Bush.

A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 3, followed by a Liturgy of the Word service at 11:00 a.m. at Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, TX. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the St. Elizabeth Grahmann Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Voice Project (www.parkinsonvoiceproject.org) or the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church building fund.

Dave’s legacy is one of love, service, and deep devotion to faith and family. He will be missed every moment of every day.
