Josh Ward and Randall King headline shows May 30-31
Parker, Texas -- When the sun goes down at Rodeo Celina, the fun is just beginning. New this year, Collin County’s only PRCA-sanctioned rodeo is adding two nights of amazing country music with concerts in the beautifully renovated Oil Baron’s Ballroom at Southfork Ranch. Concerts will be held both Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 p.m. Featured artists include Josh Ward and Randall King.
Texas country favorite Josh Ward kicks off the concerts on Friday, May 30. It’s appropriate that Ward lead the lineup since he began his career in rodeo. While competing on the rodeo circuit, he would sing for fun. However, his talent was quickly recognized, and Ward made the leap from riding to singing.
Ward's debut album, Promises, was released in 2011. And in 2019 he achieved a life goal when he released Live at Billy Bob’s Texas, an album recorded live at the world’s largest honky-tonk. His most recent album, Same Ol’ Cowboy, dropped earlier this year.
The weekend’s blockbuster shows continue Saturday, May 31 when Randall King takes the stage in the Oil Baron’s Ballroom. A West Texas native and self-described “old soul,” King is a proud voice in the revival of traditional country music and has never wavered in his honky-tonk allegiance – in fact, he’s worn it like a badge of honor, growing into a leading voice for today’s traditional country music. His deep, rich tone and classic twang has helped him to amass more than 300 million streams with singles like “You In A Honky Tonk,” “Hey Cowgirl” and “Mirror, Mirror.”
King's 2022 major label album debut, Shot Glass, landed on both Whiskey Riff’s Top 40 Country Albums of 2022 and Billboard’s All Genre 50 Best Albums of 2022 (So Far). While King developed his love of country music listening to icons like Keith Whitley, George Strait and Alan Jackson, he also draws inspiration from modern masters like Dierks Bentley and Gary Allan.
