Funding for these projects provided by the McKinney Community Development Corporation

McKinney, Texas -- The City of McKinney is proud to announce the completion of two major neighborhood park improvement projects and the start of construction on a one-of-a-kind illuminated trail experience at Towne Lake Park. These initiatives were made possible through funding support from the McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC), along with contributions from parkland dedication funds and city bonds.

E.A. Randles Park Now Open
The newly renovated E.A. Randles Park, 3380 Ash Lane, has officially reopened to the public.

This project transformed the park into a vibrant community destination with a new basketball court, parking lot, splash pad, play equipment, pavilion, and connected trail system. The improvements were primarily funded by MCDC, with additional contributions from parkland dedication funds and city bond funding.

Aviator Park Renovations Complete
Aviator Park, 1201 Monticello Dr., has also undergone a major upgrade with accessibility and inclusion in mind, creating a space for all children to enjoy. The improvements include new play structures and site furnishings, shade structures over swings and basketball court benches, and upgraded safety surfacing made of artificial turf and pour-in-place materials. MCDC and city bond funding made these renovations possible.

Construction Begins on McKinney Light Walk at Towne Lake Park
Construction is officially underway for the McKinney Light Walk, an artistic, illuminated trail experience that will bring a new dimension to Towne Lake Park. The project will feature a lit concrete pathway designed to provide an immersive and creative way for residents and visitors to experience the park after dark. It is estimated to be complete by the end of the year. Funding from MCDC, parkland dedication funds, and city bonds contributed to bringing the vision to life.

"These projects reflect our commitment to creating inclusive and inspiring spaces that enhance the quality of life for all McKinney residents," said Director of Parks and Recreation Amy Kinkade. "With support from MCDC, we've been able to bring new energy to neighborhood parks and reimagine how our community can connect through outdoor spaces, day or night."

"Supporting projects like these is at the heart of MCDC's mission to invest in quality-of-life initiatives that benefit the entire community," said MCDC Board Chair Angela Richardson Woods. "We're proud to help bring these exciting, family-friendly amenities to life and to see the lasting impact they will have on McKinney's neighborhoods and public spaces."
