Ector, Texas -- Two productive innings at the plate, combined with the pitching of Caysen Lappin, carried the Dodd City Hornets to a 7-5 win over the Ector Eagles in a make-up district game played Thursday in Ector.

Ector got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the first inning and carried that one-run lead into the top of the fourth frame when Dodd City jumped out to a 4-1 lead.

Ector scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Dodd City answered with three runs in the top of the sixth to go up 7-2.

Ector picked up a run in the bottom of the sixth and battled in the seventh with two more runs before the rally fell short, giving Dodd City a 7-5 win on the road.

Caysen Lappin went the distance on the mound for Dodd City, limiting Ector to five hits and striking out nine to pick up the win.

Maddox Lappin and Weldon Garner both had two hits and one run batted in. Garner also scored twice.

Dodd City (4-10, 4-7) will be on the road Friday to take on Tioga at 4:30 p.m.
