Bonham, Texas -- Casey Davis of Bonham passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Casey Colleen Carr was born February 23, 1983, in Greenville, Texas to Scott and Sharon McCarter Carr. She married the love of her life, Tony Davis, in 2010. She was a loving mother to twin daughters, Reece and Rowan, and their younger sister, Sadie.
Ever the overachiever, Casey graduated in three years from Bells High School in 2000 followed by graduation in 2003 from Texas A&M University Commerce with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Upon graduation, she joined the family furniture business in Bonham where her artistic talent transformed many houses in the area into beautiful homes. She and her husband Tony have continued the family business.
As a child, her first-grade teacher recognized glimmers of her artistic talent and recommended art lessons. Casey won her first competition at the age of seven at the North Florida Fair. Later in Texas, she won awards at the Katherine Sherwood Children's Art Show, the Grayson County Fair, and Loy Lake Fair. Additionally, Casey won the Art Senior Grand Champion Award at the Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show. In 1998, her watercolor entry in the Animal/Bird category at the State Fair of Texas won first place in its category and was judged Best of Show over all of the watercolor entrants in the Junior division. In 2001, she again won Best of Show at the State Fair of Texas in the Adult division. Texas Senator Ralph Hall chose Casey's art as the winner of the Congressional District Art Competition two years in a row. As a result, her paintings were displayed in a corridor of the U. S. Capitol in Washington D.C. When she was fifteen, her watercolor was awarded First Place in the Teen Talent division of the Church of God International Assembly in St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout her life, Casey continued to create art in different mediums and blessed her family with her incredible artistic talent.
Casey loved the softball field from the age of eight when her left-handed talent made her the starting first baseman. She made lifelong friends on the softball field in Tallahassee, Florida as well as later in Bonham, Bells, Denison and Whitewright, Texas. When she attended Bells High School and learned there was no softball program, she advocated tirelessly until the school created a girls’ softball team. Her persistence was rewarded when Bells High School won back-to-back State Championships in later years. Once her daughters were ready to play ball, Casey returned to the softball field. She was Reece’s assistant coach. She coached her daughter Sadie for three seasons in the BBSA Recreation League as a coach of the Bonham team and the Bonham Lady Bombers. They played two All-Star seasons and two Fall softball seasons. Casey supported not only her girls and her team, but any player in the community. She fundraised for scholarship programs and if that wasn't enough, she personally provided equipment and accessories for girls. Casey also served as a Board Member on the BBSA.
Casey was active in the Bonham community and surrounding area. She sponsored an Angel Tree for the Fannin County Children's Center. When all of the children's requests were not covered, Casey took care of them. She was an active member of the PTA, providing photo booths for school dances. Her parade floats were the highlight of the Christmas Parade. Casey lived big, and an appropriate view of her life was Go Big or Go Home.
Those who knew Casey will remember her for her infectious smile and generous nature, her faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to her husband, children, family and community. She had a rare gift for making others smile, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
