On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Grayson County Master Gardeners will host a spot at the annual Doc Holliday festival on Main Street in Denison, Texas. Visit us to learn what Grayson County Master Gardeners do and how to become one. Being a Master Gardener enriches your knowledge of horticulture and benefits the community. The Texas Master Gardener Handbook and a Texas Native Handbook will be displayed.
Do you have pressing gardening questions? “Ask the Gardener” is a unique opportunity to have a local Master Gardener answer your questions and assist you with gardening concerns. Knowing the best habitat for a plant and how to care for it ensures a successful relationship between the garden and the gardener.
Apart from hydroponic plants, a plant’s life starts with the soil. Knowing what type of soil to purchase for growing the plant is key to the plant’s life. There will be information on the different kinds of soil sold at the local nurseries and stores. Master Gardeners will be available to explain the differences between potting soil and raised bed soil, etc.
Do you know if your soil is alkaline or acidic? Do you know what type of soil your plant needs? Knowing what kind of soil your yard has is crucial for a successful gardening experience. Soil testing will help you discern the type of soil your yard has and ways to improve the soil quality. Order forms will be available for you to have your soil tested.
Gardening is a great educational and fun activity to enjoy with your child. Please bring your children as there will be fun activities for them also. They may receive a gift for participating in the activity.
The Saturday following Doc Holliday will be the annual Grayson County Master Gardeners Plant Sale. Information about the sale will be available at Doc Holliday. Master Gardeners will have some plants on display that will be available for purchase during the annual plant sale on May 3, 2025.
