Telephone, Texas -- Jean Carter passed away on April 6, 2025, in Telephone, Texas. Jean was born August 31, 1937, to Will Read and Rinnia (Reed) Gordon.

Services for Mrs. Carter will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Telephone Baptist Church, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Duplex Cemetery.  Pastor Jase Waller will preside.

Jean's life was marked by her profound love for family, a passion that shone brightly through every facet of her being. A woman of many joys, Jean was renowned for her excellent cooking, her voracious appetite for books, and the delight she took in watching flowers bloom and the graceful dance of hummingbirds. Jean's laughter and love of shopping trips will be fondly remembered.

Jean is survived by her sons, Larry Carter with his wife Sue, and Robert Carter alongside his wife Areta, both of Telephone. Her brother, Bill Gordon of Ivanhoe, Texas, along with her adored grandchildren Jessica Jones, Kim Giganti, Germaine Sparks, and her 12- great-grandkids will miss her guiding presence. She is also survived by nieces Pat McDowell and husband Jim, Sue Meredith and husband Paul, Kristina Adams, Ann Adams, Nicole Gordon, and nephew Billy Gordon, along with her extended family and friends, who were all touched by her generous spirit. Jean leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and fond memories that will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew her.

Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her parents Will and Rinnia Gordon and her beloved husband Earnest Clifton Carter in 2013.
