September 2, 1941 – April 4, 2025

Bonham, Texas -- Bob Eaton was born in Paris, Texas on September 2, 1941, the youngest of three boys.  His parents were Charlie and Nina Wilkins Eaton, and he grew up in Honey Grove, Texas.  Bob excelled in sports and was a High School All-American Honorable Mention and Outstanding Back in the Red River Valley in football and went to SMU in Dallas, Texas on a football scholarship in 1960. Later, transferring to North Texas State University in Denton where he met his wife, Sharon Broome.

Family knew not to interrupt when the Cowboys were playing. He became a State Farm Agent in Sherman, Texas in July 1970 and accepted an agency in Bonham, Texas in 1972 which he maintained until his death. Bob passed away in his home after a brief illness.

The family visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas.   A private family burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, Texas. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nina, eldest brother, Jimmy, and brother, Terry.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon; son Robert and his wife Christi and grandson Logan; son Chris and his wife Rachel and granddaughter Rebecca and grandsons Jack and David; daughter Ashlea Fraser (who also works in his State Farm Agency since July 1999) and her husband Eddie Fraser and their daughter Tara; and daughter Meredith Gill and her husband Matt Gill and grandsons Turner and Karson. Bob was known as DeDa to his grandkids.
