Austin College to host an evening of big band jazz

The Greater Texoma Jazz Ensemble, directed by Austin College emeritus faculty Dr. Ricky Duhaime, will continue its Spring Jazz Concert Series with performances at area venues in April. All concerts are free and open to the public.

April 14 – Pottsboro High School Auditorium, Pottsboro, 7:30 p.m.

April 21 – Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church, Sherman, 7:30 p.m.

April 28 – Grayson County College Cruce Stark Auditorium, Denison, 7:30 p.m.

This season’s concerts will include styles ranging from classic swing and ballads to contemporary Latin music and modern fusion. The concerts will feature jazz soloists including alto and soprano saxist Andy Wright, tenor saxists Chris Dickson and Sydney White, trumpetist Doug Hansen, guitarist Drake Goodrich, pianist Carson Cook, and bassist Greg Hendrix.

The Greater Texoma Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Ricky Duhaime, is comprised of students, faculty, and community members from across Northeastern Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma.
