Honey Grove, Texas -- James Lee Jackson Sr., known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in Denison, Texas. Born on October 8, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jim's life was marked by dedication to his country, love for his family, and a passion for mechanics and communication technology.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at Westside Baptist Church in Honey Grove, TX, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Terry Paul Cunningham will preside.

Serving as attendants will be James L. Jackson, Jr. (Jimmy), Terry Jackson, Johnathen Hackney, and Donny McElroy.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965, stationed at Fort Sewart AFB as a C-130 Mechanic. His commitment to service was a cornerstone of his life, and he took great pride in the continued service of his family members, including his son Terry Jackson (retired-US Army), Johnathan Hackney (USAF), Walter Bickers (active-US Army), and Doug Cain (USAF). His legacy of service will live on through them and the values he instilled.

After his military service, Jim found joy in the world of engines and radio communication. His passion for motorcycles and his skill in working on anything with an engine were well-known. A long-time HAM/CB radio operator, he and his wife, Louise, were known on the airwaves as Geronimo and Lady Geronimo. Jim's expertise and love for mechanics led him to a fulfilling career with Bonham ISD, where he retired after 15 years as a bus mechanic and driver.

Jim's deep faith was reflected in his active membership at West Side Baptist Church, where he was a beacon of strength and compassion within the community. His unwavering support and guidance touched many lives, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

Jim's role as a loving husband to his spouse of 59 years, Louise Carol Jackson, was one of his greatest joys. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his children, Caroline Lee Jackson and partner Douglas Cain, James Lee Jackson, Jr. (Jimmy) and partner Belinda Sullivan, Lynn Marie Jackson, and Terry Aaron Jackson (retired US Army) and spouse Misti Jackson.

His grandchildren, Johnathen Lee Hackney and partner Samantha Krabbenhoft, Lauren Anderson, Wesley Chambers and spouse Jenny Chambers, Taylor Bickers and spouse Walter Bickers (active US Army), Connor Jackson, Luke Jackson and fiancée Madison Nunn, Victoria Hunter-McElroy, and Trinity Hunter-McElroy and fiancé Tony Skeen, brought him immeasurable happiness. Jim was also a proud pawpaw to his great-grandchildren, Jaiden & Wyatt Hackney, Destiny Krabbenhoft, Zaelynn Anderson, Theo Cashion, Bailey & Peyton Chambers, Amelia, Adeline, & Caroline Bickers, and Tatum & Taylen Hunter-McElroy & Tillian Skeen.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Travis Jackson and Girtie Lee Hill Jackson, and his brother, Jerry Allen Jackson.

Jim's legacy is one of love, service, and commitment to his family and country. He will always be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to James Lee Jackson Sr., we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

I love you James.
We love you dad.
