In the heart of Bonham, TX, this long-standing spot has been serving the community since 2010. With over a decade of history behind it, I paid a visit to see how it holds up. Here’s how my experience measured up.
Warning: You May Dream About This Steak Later
If you’re looking for the best steak in Fannin County, stop what you’re doing and go to Roma Italian Restaurant. I’ve eaten a lot of steak in a lot of places, and Roma's is hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had.
Let’s start with the owners—Tony and Bari. Roma is a true family-owned and operated restaurant. You can feel that from the moment you walk in. Everything is made fresh daily: the dough, the bread, the sauces. Nothing comes out of a can, a freezer, or a microwave. It’s all crafted in-house with intention and flavor.
Now, about that steak—because that’s why we’re here, right? Roma seasons their hand-cut steaks with a special house-blend seasoning that is absolutely phenomenal. These steaks aren’t portioned out by weight—they cut them fresh by hand, averaging at least 16 ounces, and often larger.
When it hits the table, you get that beautiful sear on the outside, seasoned to perfection, and inside it’s juicy, buttery, and tender. Not a slab of mush. The flavor? Rich, beefy, and subtly sweet, with that perfect salty, caramelized crust that steak dreams are made of. Every bite is savory, satisfying, and dripping with meaty goodness. It’s the kind of steak that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what’s happening.
Your meal also includes two sides—think baked potato, steamed broccoli, a grilled mushroom/onion/squash veggie mix, or a house or Caesar salad—and their homemade dinner rolls are the buttery cherry on top.
There’s an old saying: when you eat somewhere that’s phenomenal, you usually don’t want to go back a second time because you’re bound to be disappointed. I have to say, after eating at Roma for seven months, that fear has never come true. The food has never changed. It is 100% consistent—every time, hands-down, same quality, same flavor, same excellence.
Despite the high-quality food and attentive service, the prices are shockingly reasonable. Whether you’re planning a special date night or just want to treat yourself, Roma’s delivers steakhouse quality without the steakhouse bill.
RUN, don’t walk. And when you get there, tell them TonjaH sent you.
Buon appetito!
