The Ector Lady Eagles are headed to the regional semifinals after sweeping Munday in the area round.
In the series opener, Ector's Audrey Arie struck out 10 and only gave up three hits to keep Munday's bats in check. The Lady Eagles were equally impressive at the plate, pounding out nine hits to overpower Munday, 9-1, in game one.
Adalynn Dederick went 3-for-4 with one RBI and scored once. Alana Mackey was 2-for-4, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Ella Laymance also had two hits and scored twice. Aspen Harrison and Ainsley Greathouse had one hit apiece.
Game two was a thriller, with Ector breaking a tie in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 7-6 win.
Ector had a 5-3 lead after five innings before Munday scored three runs in the top of the sixth to slip in front, 6-5.
But the Lady Eagles weren't going to let this one slip away.
Ector tied the game, 6-6, with a run in the bottom of the sixth and then came through with a clutch run in the bottom of the seventh to break out the brooms and sweep Munday in the area round.
Ainsley Greathouse went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Alana Mackey, Aspen Harrison, Aleea Wheeler and Kutter Watts had one RBI apiece.
Audrey Arie struck out eight and scattered five hits to get the win.
Ector will advance to take on Dodd City in the regional semifinals.
