Fannin County, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials have announced that Highway 19 Construction LLC of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be demolishing the bridge on FM 274 at Sandy Creek in Fannin County beginning May 19.

The bridge demolition work is part of the FM 274 rehabilitation project to replace the bridge. FM 274 will be closed at Sandy Creek until the bridge replacement work is completed.

Drivers will need to follow the detour signs during this road closure. Message boards will be in place beginning May 5, to notify drivers about the road closure. This road closure is expected to last about three months.

During this period, TxDOT urges drivers to exercise caution. Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, car audio, or navigation systems. TxDOT also asks drivers to pay close attention to all traffic controls and remain alert to road crews while navigating through the construction zone.
