Bonham, Texas -- Rebecca Dale “Becky” Massingill, a loving wife, mother, and Granny, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3, 2025, at her home in Honey Grove, with her beloved husband, Jim by her side. Born on July 3, 1952, in Kingsland, Arkansas, the daughter of Jim Tommy Lee and Hazel Maurine Lee. Becky brought warmth and compassion into the lives of everyone she touched.
Becky dedicated many years to her career as a hairdresser, where her clients and co-workers became an extension of her family. Her welcoming nature and nurturing spirit made every visit a comforting experience. Known for her generous hospitality, visitors to her home could always expect to be treated to a delicious meal and heartfelt conversation, as she delighted in sharing not only her home but also her love for God. A woman of remarkable strength and resilience, Becky was tough as nails yet tender-hearted, adept at making others feel cared for and valued. Family was the cornerstone of her life; she was a faithful wife to her beloved husband, Jim Massingill, with whom she shared a profound bond that exemplified true love and partnership. She loved him with everything in her.
As a devoted Mama and Granny, she poured her heart into her family, always putting their needs first and making cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Becky had a passion for life in all its forms. She found joy in tending to her garden. She loved to go fishing, something with her and a rod in her hand, always brought her peace and happiness. Caring for the farm and all the animals was something else she poured her heart into. The farm was her home, and she loved everything about it. Her vibrant spirit was infectious, and her presence brought peace and happiness to those around her.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Patricia “Pat” Crews and Debra Campbell.
Becky is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jim Massingill, children, Heath Massingill of Bonham, Texas, Laura McCord and husband Kevin of Bonham, and Chad Massingill of Honey Grove, grandchildren, Haley Massingill, Madison McCord, Leya McCord, Hannah McCord, and Jack McCord, and sister, Kathy Copeland of Arkansas.
Becky’s love for her family and her faith in God were the guiding forces in her life. As she goes to her eternal home, she leaves behind an enduring legacy of love and strength. Her family, friends, and community will profoundly miss her, but they take solace in knowing she is now with the Lord. In this time of grief, let us remember the light Becky brought into our lives and the love she shared with all. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Becky's remarkable life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas.
