Savoy, Texas -- Savoy High School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday morning, May 5, 2025, for its new greenhouse—a project that began two years ago as an idea from agriculture teacher, Mr. Gower Lester. Designed to benefit students and the community, the greenhouse will support hands-on learning in agriculture, horticulture, floral design, hospitality, and other Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs starting in the 2025–2026 school year.
Mr. Gower, working closely with the Savoy FFA Booster Club, led a dedicated effort to raise funds and secure community support. Numerous local businesses, individuals, and organizations contributed to the project.
Notable supporters include the Savoy FFA Booster Club, Savoy ISD, Atmos Energy, Gilmore Produce, PTF Insulation & Fabrication, Hope Concrete, N-Tex Sand and Gravel, Metal Masters, Saltzman Metal Buildings, Goode Farms, and McCraw Materials, along with anonymous individual donors.
Superintendent Sam Talley, Savoy ISD school board members, FFA officers, staff, and students were all in attendance to celebrate this exciting new chapter. Savoy ISD extends sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the greenhouse a possibility, especially to Mr. Gower Lester, who gave us the vision and made it a reality!
