Fannin County, Texas -- Come to the party, all you music-lovers!! Yes, Claudia Nygaard is making a long-awaited trip back to Harmony House Concerts on Sunday, June 1, 2025, 3:00-5:00 p.m. What fun she brings to any audience!!
Claudia Nygaard is a mesmerizing storyteller and a cinematic lyricist who writes songs that are heartfelt, humorous, scrappy, and sensual; and she does so with a daredevil’s vulnerability and a complete lack of self-censorship. Nygaard, with her powerful, resonant, and deeply emotive amber honey voice, is a master at putting a tear in your eye with a song that breaks your heart, and then with a quick wit and an outlandish sense of humor, she’ll replace it with tears of laughter. It is no wonder she was chosen an ”Emerging Artist” by the 2022 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and has a performance history that includes over 250 fairs and festivals in forty-eight of the United States and ten foreign countries.
Harmony House is located on Wildscape Acres, www.WildscapeAcres.com, 10 miles north of Bonham, TX, and about 65 miles NE of Dallas metroplex. This will give you an opportunity to escape urban life and come to a ‘little house on the prairie’ setting, which is worth the price of a reservation for many of you city dwellers.
To make reservations, call 903-583-2661, leaving your name, contact info (preferably an email address) and the number of reservations desired. (This is a home landline which doesn’t receive texts.) If you need directions, include that in your message. Faye (one of your hosts) will contact you to confirm your reservation was received. Reservations are $25 per person, payable at the door in cash or by check written to Claudia Nygaard.
Doors open at 2:30, and the Check-In is located in the dining room. If unable to find, just ask someone; we have very friendly and helpful ‘regulars’. If unable to attend, please cancel ASAP, since we have limited seating. That might give someone of the "Wait" list a chance to make this gig. NO-SHOWS are a NO-NO!
Claudia will perform two sets of 45-minutes with a 30-minute intermission. This will give you time to get some snacks and a cuppa java or punches, buy some ‘merch’ from Claudia, go to the Necessary Room, or wander around and enjoy the scenery. Hopefully, all the wildflowers will be blooming by then. We (Faye & Scott) will provide bottomless cups of coffee, two organic fruit juice punches, and real well water (no added chemicals), plus a variety of cheese and crackers.
Guests are asked to bring finger-foods to share with other guests, and we always have guests with exquisite taste in the things they bring. Faye may even sneak a few unexpected treats to the tables provided in the dining room and our master bedroom. Yes, our house is vintage, and we use the whole house for a house concert. Coffee bar in kitchen; punches and water in the breakfast room; and snacks on various tables.
We look forward to having you come be with us on a lazy Sunday afternoon. You'll be greeted with a hug or a handshake, whichever you prefer. Casual attire and rockin' atmosphere!!
More about Claudia --- www.claudianygaard.com, plus she has a public FB page and YouTube Channel (lots of videos to watch/listen):
Building on the craft she learned while a staff songwriter on Nashville’s Music Row, Nygaard has won numerous awards including the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriting Competition and, with the title cut of her last album “Lucky Girl," the Tumbleweed Music Festival Songwriting Competition. “Lucky Girl” charted at #3 on the Folk Alliance Radio song chart and #5 on the album chart, and gave her a significant debut on the Americana chart. It also received impressive press reviews. Legendary folk music magazine Sing Out claimed the songs “rival the likes of Guy Clark or Ian Tyson.” In October of 2023 Claudia added playwright to her list of accomplishments, with the premiere of her children’s musical Little Red Riding Hood by the Academy of Performing Arts in Massachusetts. The work is part of a series she is creating called Time Tested Tales Told in Tunes.
After a busy year of touring, she is currently taking time off to record To Race the Wind, a Western/Folk hybrid album that draws imagery from a childhood spent growing up on a ranch in California. Also in the works are a recording of her Little Red Riding Hood musical, and a Christmas album.
